Yes. There are a limited number of 4 and 5 star DT's each year. And yes. Probably 60-70 percent of them are from SEC country or Texas. So, it's a tough get. But, the remaining 40 percent are from Cali. Everyone knows how badly we need DT's. Everyone knows a 5-star DT at Oregon would immediately become high profile, publicity worthy. (ie. Haloti) And yet, we can't land anyone.
Last year, Cal pulled the top 4 DT's on the West Coast. They're doing it again this year. They get on lists with kids all over the country, not just Cali, we can't seem to. So of course you have to figure in sunshine and maybe educational reputation....but, I can't buy that too many DT's are envisioning Rhodes' scholarships.
Bottom line. We need to put our 'A' recruiters on DLine. Azinarro, I fear, is just too old school to pull in the kids we need to make the leap to a dominant defense.
